My barnet

I am emailing Barnet Council a lot, these days.

Sometimes about the 82 bus, other times about the electricity pylons, the lack of coffee shops trading on a Sunday and, even on the odd occasion, about something relatively important.

Last week I noted on their list of planning applications, that number 58 Regents Park Road had submitted a plan to build an electricity sub station on that plot of land.

So I email two questions to enquiries@barnet.gov.uk - whether a) Does a sub station already exist there and is this planning application, well, a kinda upgrade and b) has the council considered the health and safety implications for the local residents? Lots of exclamation marks followed that question. I ended the email with

Yours worried,

Ms Latte Days Von Doodah.

One evening Dominique Ferrarralala, investigative journalist extraordinaire, and I were walking back from our weekly consumption of sushi across the shires of Finch (ie Henleys Corner) with the aim to seek out where this number 58 was located. We found it just parallel to the grey block of cement and horsehair that will result in a Holiday Inn - catering for weddings bar mitzvas and a refuge for hen pecked husbands with the au pair.

So, I receive a letter back from the council inviting me to address the planning panel because I've made a 'COMPLAINT'.

Now I have to prepare a powerpoint presentation, with facts and figures to oppose this monster being built.

I like to plan ahead and have considered my attire for the event.

I will ensure that that my hair is sticking up and on end, which could be one of the consequences of living near to the sub station for local residents, according to the New Latte Days Science Editor who was appointed today - well this minute.

Goodness knows what my barnet would look like if I lived at number 56.

surely its the bus company you should be complaining to about the number 82?
