Coffee boosts female sex drive!

Taken from BBC website (the writing in colourful italics is written by me - like you didn't realise).

Coffee 'boosts female sex drive'

Scientists from Southwestern University found caffeine increased the female libido in experiments on rats. WOW

However, researchers said a similar effect was only likely to be repeated in humans who do not drink coffee regularly. BOOH

Humans would have to drink 10 cups of coffee in one go to get the same effect and that is not the normal consumption level - don't think Madame Latte Days drinks THAT much!

In the latest research, scientists gave 108 female rats a moderate dose of caffeine before a mating test to determine if the caffeine had any effect on female behaviour. (I would like to know whether our furry friends were given an organic skinny latte option and was the caffeine served in a Rosenthal china cup? Lab rats need a few nice things in their lives, eh, and Rosenthal does the best chinaware of all time, according to me!)

They found that administration of caffeine shortened the amount of time it took the females to return to the males after sex for another mating session. 'Meeting-up for a coffee' will now have a whole new meaning! Watch out!!

Lead researcher Dr Fay Guarraci said: "These rats had never had caffeine before. In humans, it might enhance the sexual experience only among people who are not habitual users." Hmmmm - well that rules out Team Latte then.

But she added the study should help improve understanding about the relationship between the brain and behaviour. Just read my blog! It explains everything about brains and behaviour - abandoned trollies in Barnet to overpriced tickets at the Arts Despot.

"Understanding the circuits that control this behaviour will help us understand how the brain works and what part of the brain mediates motivation because sexual behaviour is a motivative
behaviour." Is it really? Well fancy that.

But a spokesman for the British Coffee Association said: "We are not that convinced by this. Humans would have to drink 10 cups of coffee in one go to get the same effect and that is not the normal consumption level. Well there's a challenge!

"There are health benefits of coffee, but at this stage I do not think we can include this as one." Ha!

well i think that, for scientific purposes, you ought to try for the ten, maybe before a book group meeting so we can judge the effects

OK! But I will need to have a few male rats confirm their attendance.
