Next door to the Manor is derelict land which used to be a car showroom. It's been in its current state for more than 20 years. I found out before I moved in that there was planning permission in place but for some reason it hadn't moved on....
So Latte Days investigates.
I contact everyone. The mayor, the counsellors, Barnet, My Barnet, My hairdresser, my dentist, my friend at the Brazilian cafe to find that the owner of this bit of land is no other than Martyn Gerrard the estate agent. So I contact him. No reply. I contact him again this time writing about Health and Safety, new legislation on 1st April...tral lalalalala.
I receive a response and he invites himself over!!
Lunch time, last week, he arrives and has an uncanny resemblence to Lord Levy. He was wearing a really, really nice hot pink shirt.
He shows me his plans of a block of 12 flats and displays them on my coffee table that extends to a dining table (an Italian design, of course). He explains to me why there are delays...namely the water and gas supplies need to be sorted out.
I ask him whether he will be using sustainable materials and suggest that a solar panel on top of the block would be beneficial. He dismissed it...but I think it's still worth pursuing. So I've informed my friend H, the architect, and she's sending me some 'info...'
I really think I'm going to get one of those blue heritage plaques to place outside the Manor which states that Ms Latte Days lived here...always hoping for a better tomorrow.
