Another cawfee, another song

I woke up at 630 am, after 3 hours sleep, with a very sore head after an alcohol fuelled night. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, my alter ego emerges much to the amusement to all my friends. They often suggest that I should drink more! It was good to be up so early and ready for my 5km run with the other posse. They were impressed that I was first at the meeting place and also that I could recollect details, from the night before, quite accurately. I must say three cups of Nescafe Fair Trade instant coffee obviously helped me get through the 5k in 35mins! Not bad for a non athelete.

That evening, with sore thighs, I went to the LJCC to find that their offer of freshly ground coffee is a coin operated coffee machine. No substitute. I was at the LJCC to hear the infamous Los Desterrados and their performance that night was incredible. I have heard them many times over the last 6 years, but this was by far their best performance.

There was something in the air that night, I don't know what it was, but their timing, the sound, the passion on stage were so apparent that the audience gave them a standing ovation.

They played their new songs with the same vigour and I noted a little bit of jazz playing too. I asked one of the bass players what was going on tonight? His response was three possibilities a) it's Spring so everyone's in a good mood, b) the venue or c) the audience really appreciated this type of music. I certainly agreed with c). The last time I went to see Los D was in November and it was a cold miserable day and so was the majority of the audience, especially the Northerners who just didn't seem to like the dulcet tones of ancient Spanish/Judaic music. Thus, we live and learn.

As for the LJCC's coffee...well poor, poor show.

Tomorrow, I will be visiting the Sternberg's centre cafeteria.

'Scuse me, I seem to recall that I enjoyed it very much. Obviously the other northerner left early, but he's weird like that.
