The Duke of Cambridge Pube

I love it when my plans become much more interesting than anticipated. So I wanted to go to the London Art Fair at the Business Design Centre and emailed a couple of friends who have a real eye for good art and investment. There's me who thinks that I'm the only person who receives their regular bulletins but D manages to get preview tickets at no cost which is a bit of a result. D, J and I then spend a good two or maybe three hours looking at the art work. J doesn't like nudes at all which surprised me, somewhat, given his wit at times...and D didn't like anything that resembled or was associated with children. It perturbed her.

I loved anything with vibrant colours - and particularly loved the acrylic works of some artist, I forget her name, but her stuff resembled bacteria in a petra dish and reminded me of Nitin Swhaney's music which is played together with some incredible psychedelic images projected on the backdrop. Marvellous, in my opinion. Next to her exhibition was my good friend 'All men are murderers' Mr B who was exhibiting his work and who then explained to me how long it took to paint, the inspiration, the method...it was quite interesting though he didn't look too happy being there. And I guess if you spend too much time at any exhibition it becomes just a tad oppressive and even overwhelming. (Must stop starting sentences with 'And').

Apres we met up with N who owns an art gallery and I was told, surreptitiously, by D not to say anything like, 'my neice could do a better job than some of those artists'. As if I would!. Funny though, N was quite impressed that I had been to the Sensation exhibition in New York back in 2000 and of my interest particularly in 'organic art!'

So this brings me onto the delights of the, nearly local, gastro pub. It was lovely.

I had a goats cheese salad which was covered with a balsamic and avocado vinagrette together with mash. But I know I need to write about the coffee. It was late, so I had a fresh mint tea instead which arrived in a tin pot! If I had ordered coffee it would have been served in an individual expresso pot.

That said, the menu was delicious and eclectic but moreover is that the Duke of Camb. is the first and only certified organic pub in Britain.

Come on Catcher in the Rye and Ye Old White Lion join in!

aye, but what we want to know is did Miss L buy any art? You might want to have a look at the COLLECT "art fair for contemporary objects" at the V&A this weekend - http://collect.craftscouncil.org.uk

By the way, V & A aren't two friends of mine whose disguises I feel it necessary to obscure.
