Summer 2007

So it's the end of the traditional Saturday summer evenings of North London.

Warren Mitchell and his neighbours just don't like the likes of Will Young playing in their back garden and have put a stop to this summer tradition which has been around for 55 years.

I've been to the summer concerts for the last 5-6 years (although last Summer I made a decision not to do the same thing two years running so I had to avoid Kenwood Concerts but a stroll and coffee in Kenwood was permissible - I did write about its coffee in August). So this year, maybe I would've made plans to go to one of the concerts. I don't know but the decision has now been made for me.

Memoires

What made the concerts so special wasn't necessarily the music but the number of Green and Black's free chocolate stalls in recent years. The 70% dark chocolate together with a glass of good red wine, soaking up the sun and then feeling really dehydrated later on was a wonderful way to spend a summer's night.

************Breaking News from Latte Days Wire******************************

Worse still the Finchley Art Centre Trust has been kicked out of the Bothy - pronounced Both-heeee - which means that the Bothy's summer festival has been cancelled as a result.

Come July I will just have to sit in the grounds of Avenue House with my copy of Shakespeare's Greatest Works under a canopy, borrowed from somewhere, and entertain the locales with a Mid Summers Night Dream.

Any takers for Bottom?

The news about the bothy is really sad. and it looks like it's just greed on the part of the trust that runs the park. Anyone out there for a campaign against the trust?
